Cool Stuff: Denmark Wildlife Cam

Image
Since the world is ... rough at present, here is something cool that I figure is worth sharing. In this case, a lovely 24/7 wildlife cam featuring (mostly) badgers, foxes, birds, raccoon dogs, martens, rodents, and the occasional housecat.   It is located in Denmark and is run by a a nature photographer named Morten Hilmer . It tends to be on as background noise in my house a LOT.  Here is a link to the YouTube page:   https://www.youtube.com/live/F0GOOP82094?si=hDVL8KX-hny0M8uU

Badger Book Club: "On Tyranny"

Image
One thing I think I can do right now is to share useful information and one way I can do this is by recommending useful books and news sources.  Under the present circumstances, this little book by Timothy Snyder (who you should totally follow on substack ) is well worth your time.  I'd like to propose this as our first Badger Book Club selection for anyone that wants to read it.   (The beauty of an online book club is that you really can read something any time and come comment/chat about it whenever).   Quick summary (via The Storygraph):   Timothy Snyder’s New York Times bestseller  On Tyranny  uses the darkest moments in twentieth-century history, from Nazism to Communism, to teach twenty lessons on resisting modern-day authoritarianism. On Tyranny  is available in regular old print , as an ebook , in a cool graphic edition , and as an audiobook .  It is very likely available in many of these formats at your local public ...

A beginning ...

This blog is brand new, but The Sackful of Badgers has been around in one form or another since 2001 (I think - zoinks!).  It has changed and morphed over time, and in light of recent events, it will likely change and evolve some more.  That being said, I would like to try to make this a place of solidarity and community and mutual support with a focus on access to quality information and I would love it if folks would join me in this endeavor.   We will face the horrors of the world with solidarity, humor, and courage.  Badgers don't back down.
